MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!

it didn't rain! i was the most happy ever!  it went really well.  we made some dollars but we didn't sell EVERYTHING...so we're going to do it again in July.

we decided to do it only on sunday because it was supposed to pour all day saturday.  well it didn't end up raining but as it turns out, we needed that full day of dry weather to get our stuff spruced up and ready to sell!  it was so fun. lindsey greene, matt and i took turns playing with quinn, spray painting, and organizing.

then we had friends over for slow-cooked carnitas, a bon fire, strawberry shortcake (courtesy of nick dunn), and an extreme haircut for my very good friend natasha!

nick teaching quinn how to use his iphone. crap.
the back of natashas head, pre-cut. it's the closest thing we have to a 'before' shot
after!!!!  so cute
all the hair on the ground...SO MUCH hair!
my sweet husband and our baby. he's been wanting to have a bon fire for weeks so he was pretty excited.

after everyone left and we were so exhausted, i got a text from my brother that he needed to get picked up from the airport at 10:30.  i basically drove the 25 minutes to get him half asleep and then when i got home, i was too tired to get ready for bed so i stayed up even LATER! it was such a bad plan. waking up at 6:30 sunday morning to set up was for reals the death of me. the lovely lindsey brought me coffee, bless her heart.  i'm pretty sure she's the most selfless person i've ever met.

people came, a few of them bought stuff, and at the very end, we sold Juanita! she was the computer desk that we painted and loved on. we even got adorable hardware from anthropology for her.  guess who bought her!  my pot smoking, pot dealing, CREEPER neighbor who could NEVER fully appreciate her cuteness.  oh well...at least we sold her and we have room in the garage for MORE THINGS!  hee hee.  oh my poor husband.

we ended the perfect long weekend at the neighborhood bbq down the street.  i sadly didn't get any photos, we only actually knew 2 of the families out of probably 10, so it would have been weird to run around snapping pictures.  i SHOULD have gotten some pictures of quinn hanging out with the chickens in their backyard and saying 'bock bock bock bock!".  it was way cute.  it made matt see that chickens CAN be practical and fun!  i've been trying to convince him of this since we got married.
i did get this picture of matt and quinn walking home from the bbq because it was quinns 11month bday!! and i always feel i need a picture of him on his month birthdays.

alright, time to go get ready for the blessedly short week.  blessings!

fired

i'm fired from blogging.  just.........so..........bad..........at it!  cortney p is making me feel bad about myself by posting like 6 blogs in one day.   boy howdy is it a good thing no one knows about mine ;)...WAY less pressure.  so here's what's new.  Q is walking. EVERYWHERE!  he started maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago.  matt and i started tentatively sitting across from each other to see how far he could go, but we only did it like 3 times and when he got up to 10 steps we stopped so fast you would have thought the house was on fire.  'no way. we are not encouraging this ridiculous walking behavior!' we said to ourselves.  then we dropped him off at my auntie and uncles in renton to have some boy bonding with their 4 boys and so we could go on a date to see Aurthur, the movie (which is super FUNNY!), anyways, we got back and he was standing in the middle of their dining room like he owned the place!!  he had been walking around the house since we left and they just assumed it was normal.  well...no stopping him at that point.  now he's very close to running and he's basically OVER crawling.  he can even get himself up without using a wall or chair, he just get's up.  it's amazing and not the end of my life as every negative nancy says it will be.  it's mostly just fun, and he's just so happy all the time since he can go wherever he wants.  it does look pretty crazy cause he's very teeny....he looks like a baby monkey walkin around. i like it.

here is a mish mash of photos from the passed few months.

Quinn is also driving now, not just walking

we pulled out the hammock and we've been using it non-stop! Q LOVES it.

this little zebra his uncle chais got him in Mexico. it needed some kisses

he has a HUGE crush on auntie kendra.  he snuggles her so much it makes matt and i jealous

he is very very a boy and being nakey is the BEST!

in the dressing room at H&M he could not handle that baby in, what he thought, was a window. he kept looking behind it to see where the other baby was.  we spent a good 1/2 hour in there looking for that other baby

his favorite time of day is when daddy comes home.  he used to crawl at the speed of light toward the door when daddy came in it, but now he runs :)

my parents have been coming up at least once a month, my mom can't handle missing quinns new phases, so she drags my dad up and they crash on the blow-up bed in the living room.  we call it the holiday inn express.  it's all very classy.

quinn has become aware and basically in love with other babies and kids...beckett, his friend-o, is one of them

so my marvelous bday present that i alluded to in my first post was a spectacular sewing machine...yay!  i have the best family and husband ever.  so i've been putting pheobe, that's her name, to good use making pillows!  i collected doilies for like 7 months so that i could make a million pillows out of vintage cloth napkins with doilies on them. have i ever mentioned that i'm about 85 years old in my heart? well i am. and i LOVE doilies.  so lindsey greene and i are having a garage sale this weekend that we are hoping will be the most adorable thing that ever hit kirkland...or at least north rose hill.  we will sell a couple sweet pieces of vintage, refinished furniture, and a bunch of stuff that has been living in my garage not getting used, and the old lady pillows that i'm making! oh i hope and hope and hope it's nice out!  the plan is to decorate my front yard and make it look fun and like an outdoor living room, but if it rains like the forcast says, then we will do it in the garage and it will be about 78% less cute.  but whatevs.

these are my first two homemade pillows.
i've made 3 more. i love them so much i wish i needed a million pillows but i surely do not. the one on the left has found a snug little home on my bed though...it's a terrible photo but the pillow looks cute
